Next stop is Buckskin Mountain State Park, Arizona – on the Colorado River. It’s very very hot here (100+ F) – so we could move to a site with a big tree for some shade! Our campground located in a bend of the Colorado River.The shrub next to our campsite has beautiful flowers with food for the little guy.He (or she) is such a beauty 🙂… and feasting all day on the flowers.Between all the bare rocks in this areas the river meanders like a “green thread” with many recreation opportunities along the river.A boaters paradise here !… and very clear water too!Very beautiful when the sun lights the rocks!We went for some nice, but hot trails without any shade.… ooops – and we got loooong legs on the trail 🙂 Parker Dam is just a few miles north of the campground.The lake created from the dam.The byway / scenic drive on the other side of the river is in California. And yes – Burrow warning ! Here they are … the signs did not lie.As usual – one of the nice camping style dinners while on the road.… AND a good campfires in the evenings.On the way to the next we drive for a few mile in California.Oooops – and this is not border control – no it’s an Agriculture Check-Point – asking us if we have any fruit or vegetable !!!Welcome to Nevada next!We spend one night at Lower Cottonwood Campground. Driving there felt like the end of the world.Our campsite.With a view to the marina.And nice Oleander everywhere.A beach to cool off.And the huge marina – not busy right now – but weekends will be very very busy here.Out next stop is Red Rock Canyon – just a few miles away from Las Vegas.Our campsiteA walk to the Red Spring/ Calico Basin.And the 12 mile Scenic Drive in Red Rock offers stunning views.Calico HillsAnd super nice hiking trails …… with a bit of climbing.Petroglyph WallAnd “green” canyon trails…Wildflowers everywhere … they are sooo nice!Since Las Vegas is so close by – we had to drive the strip 🙂In the evening thunder and lightning nearby.
