July 15 – 21, 2023 – Nebraska & Missouri

Nebraska & Missouri
Lake McConaughy “Lake Mac” or “Big Mac”, Nebraska’s largest reservoir, is one of Nebraska’s most popular vacation destinations. Located at the edge of Nebraska’s vast and unique Sandhills, the lake is known for its beaches of fine-grained sand and clear waters.
Our Campsite …
… with a nice view.
But some are more adventures ….
… camping right on the beach …
… and must be towed with a huge truck in the soft sand.
This truck is not a toy 🙂
A lot of driftwood at “Lake Mac” …
… makes nice tipi’s.
We are still in the area where the trails passed in the early days. And learn a lot about them.
We walk a small part of the California Trail …
… some parts a pretty steep.
In town the “Front Street”.
And the very interesting Art Gallery/ Museum with petrified wood from all over.
Next stop is in Missouri …
… the Weston Bend State Park.
Our Campsite
Nice trails …
… along the Missouri River
And a visit to the historic town of Weston.
… with cute shops, many gift & antic shops and art galleries.
Roaring River State Park
Our Campsite
The spring of the Roaring River … with plenty of rainbow trout.
They are still investigating how deep the spring is !
And a view to the trout hatchery from a trail above …
… packed with rainbow trout’s.
Some of the trout’s from the hatchery are released right here in the park every night – so it’s a fly fishing paradise.
… and many nice trails in the park.
