July 1 – 9, 2023 – Idaho

Cleo in Idaho ... there is more than potatoes ;-)
Hmm 9% …. that is a lot !!
The way to our next stop has some challenges for Andreas 🙂
… yes, the only way we fit around these switchbacks!
Our campsite at Dworshak State Park
This campsite visitor likes our gras!
Dworshak Reservoir
It is 4th of July weekend – with a long “traffic jam” at the boat ramp!
We walk the Big Eddy trail – away from the croud.
… with great views to the reservoir.
Next stop is Lake Casade State Park.
We got very lucky – and got the nicest waterfront site in the park!
With a view!
And a housekeeping day ….
… with tour planning while we are waiting.
Around the corner form our campsite is the interesting Tamarak Resort Village. All year resort with ski for the winter and mountain bike trails, zip lines and much more for the summer.
2 nights with 4th of July Fireworks – form our “first row” campsite.
The drive to the next stop along Payette River Scenic Byway is stunning and soooo pretty!
We can watch a lot of rafting and canoeing on the river.
The next stop is Bruneau Dunes State Park
Our campsite….
… with sunset views.
Hmmm will this sundial work??
… instructions are easy …
9:26 am (summertime) … and it works !!! 🙂
From far away the dunes don’t look like much.
Very special are the lakes which formed at the sand dunes.
First we “practice” with the “Small Dune”. … not too bad.
Next is the “Big Dune” … wooo hooo 470 feet up is not really easy. One step up 3/4 step back … LOL!
… ahhhh almost up!
We both made it to the top!
… and “going” down is fast and fun!
… looks like a small avalanche, in front of our feet, going down.
The Shoshone Falls are on the way to the next stop. Wooow!
At 212 feet, the falls are higher than Niagara Falls!
Our next stop is Lake Walcott State Park.
Our Campsite
Lake Walcott
And under the picnic shelters from the park – we find lots of Barn Swallow nests.
With some hungry chicks!
So mum and dad have a lot of work to feed these hungry youngsters.
Plenty of tiny Yellow Warbler behind our campsite 🙂
… and a colorful sunset.
