April 22-24, 2022 – Gulf State Park, AL

Gulf State Park, Alabama

What an interesting State Park – it’s not 100% what we like – but very very fascinating! … with the size of 6,500 acres (25 km), over 2 miles of sugar sand beaches, 28 miles of paved multi-use trails, nature center, restaurant, pool, volley ball … you name it – the park has everything you need. With over 500 campsites a pretty busy place – but still spaciously setup and also very walking and biking-friendly. The park was build 1939 by the CCC and 1970 was turned into a resort campground. We “e-biked” a lot of the paved roads and boardwalks and enjoyed a couple days here.

Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum

The little museum was closed but the caretaker was cleaning the museum – and gave us a private tour.

The building that houses the Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum was originally built in 1910 as a schoolhouse.  It has served as a museum since 1995 and was moved to its present location in 1999.
