Our first stop are the cool Rainbow Springs in Florida. After a little more than 200 miles we setup enjoy our first campground. Next day we paddle from the Campground to the Head Spring … along gators, turtles, Anhinga’s, Cormorants, etc. etc ….
Rainbow Springs is first-magnitude spring that produces over 490 million gallons of water daily (compare: the US is consuming 370 million gallons gasoline per day). The gardens and waterfalls at Rainbow Springs State Park are from the days when the headsprings were a private attraction. They have been renovated and replanted.
